Carol Elizabeth Marshall - Artist and Poet

Lizzie's journey as an artist and her commitment to using art as a means of healing and connection is truly inspiring. Her early passion for drawing provided her with a refuge from the chaos in her household, and it became a way for her to express herself and find solace.

The challenges Lizzie faced with her twin sister's belittlement and rejection left a profound impact on her, shaping her coping strategies and leading her to seek solace in her art. Through painting with colour and expressive marks, Lizzie discovered that her art became a powerful tool for self-understanding and personal resilience. This realization deepened her connection with her own emotions and helped her navigate feelings of rejection, loss, and danger.

In addition to her personal artistic practice, Lizzie has dedicated her career to teaching and sharing the transformative power of the creative arts. Her work in Doncaster schools and educational institutions has allowed her to inspire and nurture young artists, helping them discover their own creative voices. Her involvement with organizations like the Daniel Barnett Arts Foundation showcases her commitment to using art as a means of support and healing for children and young adults undergoing major cancer treatments.

Lizzie's artistic talents have been recognized through various exhibitions, including Tickhill Studio, The Mac Gallery, Art in the Park Sheffield, and The Great Sheffield Art Show. Her commissioned works, particularly in therapeutic and family counselling settings, demonstrate her ability to create emotional connections through her art. Whether it's capturing the essence of a person in a portrait or creating connective paintings for new homeowners, Lizzie's art has the power to evoke memories and forge meaningful ties.

Through her diverse experiences and contributions to the art community, Lizzie has not only found personal fulfilment but also brought solace, connection, and healing to others. Her dedication to using art as a vehicle for self-expression, understanding, and resilience is truly admirable, and her work continues to impact the lives of those she touches.
